Crucial three days begin for ‘The Raja Saab’

Sankranthi 2026 has turned out to be a crowded festive season, with five Telugu films releasing in theatres. The season kicked off with Prabhas-starrer “The Raja Saab,” which hit screens on January 9, 2026. However, the box office narrative has since been dominated by Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu.
Adding to the competition, Anaganaga Oka Raju and Nari Nari Naduma Murari also arrived in theatres yesterday.
While “The Raja Saab” was declared a box office disappointment as early as its second day, distributors are now pinning their hopes on the crucial three festive days starting today. In Andhra Pradesh, unlike Telangana, collections for new releases tend to pick up significantly from this phase and usually continue strongly over the next three days.

The same applies to overseas markets, especially North America, where the weekend period is beginning now. As a result, these three days are vital for all five Sankranthi releases. For The Raja Saab, in particular, this period is crucial to at least minimize losses. While heavy losses for distributors seem inevitable, the hope is that the festive rush will bring a surge in collections and reduce the overall damage.
Directed by Maruthi, “The Raja Saab” features Prabhas in the lead role, with Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Riddhi Kumar adding to the film’s glamour appeal.
