Venkatesh and Meena starrer ‘Drushyam 2’, sequel to the super hit ‘Drushyam’, is all set for digital premiere on Hotstar. The film will not release in the theaters.
Directed by the original Malayalam filmmaker Jeethu Joseph, ‘Drushyam 2’ went to the sets in March this year. The shooting was completed in a flat 40 days. The post-production work is in progress.
Initially, the makers wanted to release it in the theaters, but they have now sold the satellite and direct-OTT rights to Star MAA and Disney+Hotstar group for a whopping amount.
The Malayalam original version starring Mohanlal and Meena was premiered on Amazon Prime, skipping the theatrical window.
‘Drishyam’ was an acclaimed thriller. It was also a commercial success. Venkatesh returns as Rambabu, a film lover, who will go to any length to save his family in a case.
