Despite earlier announcements, Akhil Akkineni’s “Lenin” will not have premiere shows in the Telugu states.
Producer Naga Vamsi had previously said that “Lenin,” starring Akhil Akkineni and Bhagyashri Borse, would have special premiere screenings, with shows expected to begin as early as 5 AM in Hyderabad. However, those plans have now been dropped.
Advance bookings have opened only for the regular 8 AM shows in most centres, including single-screen theatres. The proposed night premieres in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have also been cancelled.
The makers have been expressing immense confidence in the film, repeatedly stating that “Akhil ee sari kodutadu” (Akhil will score a blockbuster this time). However, by opting out of premiere shows, they appear to have decided to let the verdict from regular moviegoers emerge first instead of allowing premiere-show talk to shape the initial buzz.
Directed by Murali Kishore Abburu, “Lenin” is a rural action drama starring Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead, with music composed by Thaman.
