Four years on, distributors await dues from Puri Jagannadh

Director Puri Jagannadh has delivered several blockbusters in his career, including the iconic Pokiri, but has also faced setbacks with major flops. One such disaster was Liger, which resulted in heavy losses for distributors.
Released in 2022, “Liger” turned out to be a massive box office failure, leaving many distributors in financial distress. According to industry buzz, Puri Jagannadh has cleared only part of the compensation he had promised, while a significant portion of the dues still remains unpaid.
Despite nearly four years passing since the film’s release, the issue reportedly continues to haunt him. In the meantime, he has gone on to direct three films, but the pending settlements have not been fully resolved.
The latest reports suggest that distributors, led by Suniel Narang, are now taking a firm stand. They are said to have decided not to screen any of his upcoming films, including potential re-releases like “Pokiri,” until the dues are cleared.
Currently, Puri Jagannadh is awaiting the result of his new film Slumdog, starring Vijay Sethupathi, Samyuktha, and Tabu. The film’s performance could play a key role in determining his next move amid the ongoing financial concerns.
