Director Sampath Nandi and Sai Dharam Tej have collaborated on a new film titled ‘Ganja Shankar’, and a title teaser was released some time ago.
The film has run into problems now that the state’s government has changed. The Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau has issued a notice to the “Ganja Shankar” team to change the title.
In its notices, Sandeep Shandilya, IPS, director of the anti-narcotics bureau, stated that “they believe that the name “Ganja Shankar” potentially inciting or abetting the crime of narcotics consumption inviting penal consequences to the movie makers.”
Typically, such objections are raised at CBFC. However, the government issued notices to a film while it is still in production.
Sithara Entertainments is producing the film alongside Srikara Studios. We have to wait for the production house’s response.
