Telugu director Gopichand Malineni, of ‘Krack’ fame, made his debut in Bollywood with “Jaat,” featuring Sunny Deol. The film was released in theaters on April 10th to a lukewarm response.
“Jaat” is the immediate release of Sunny Deol after his previous blockbuster, Gadar 2. “Gadar 2,” which was a sequel to the mega-blockbuster “Gadar,”, banking on its brand name opened to Rs 85 Cr in India in two days. The film went on to collect more than Rs 500 Cr in its lifetime.
But “Jaat” failed to open big. In its first two days, the film collected Rs 17 Cr in India and is struggling due to poor word-of-mouth and negative reviews.
The majority of the critics said that Gopichand Malineni presented old wine in an old bottle, adding some masala.
The film also was produced by Telugu production house Mythri Movie Makers. It remains to be seen if the film manages to collect even Rs 50 Cr by the end of the four-day weekend.
