Legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja, widely revered as the ‘Maestro’ of Indian music, has made headlines with a bold statement during a promotional interview for the upcoming Telugu film Shashtipoorthi, set to release on May 30.

In the interview, Ilaiyaraaja stated that there has never been — and will never be — a composer like him in cinema. His comment quickly went viral, sparking widespread discussion on social media.

Ilaiyaraaja emphasized that the kind of music he created, especially the experimental and genre-defining work in South Indian cinema, remains unmatched.

Having composed over 7,000 songs and scored music for more than 1,000 films across Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, the maestro’s influence is immense. Even Oscar-winning music composers like AR Rahman and MM Keeravani have publicly acknowledged him as a guru and trailblazer in the field of music.
