A couple of years ago, Bollywood buzzed with the announcement of a film adaptation of Shaktimaan, India’s first superhero television series created by Mukesh Khanna. Backed by Sony Pictures, the plan was to develop a grand film trilogy based on the iconic show. Ranveer Singh was initially roped in to play the modern-day Shaktimaan, and pre-production work had even begun.
However, the project hit a roadblock when Ranveer opted out. Mukesh Khanna later stated publicly that he didn’t think Ranveer was the right fit for the role. Since then, the film remained in limbo—until now.
Sources now reveal that Allu Arjun is being considered to lead the rebooted Shaktimaan project. The stylish star, who is currently shooting for Atlee’s sci-fi thriller “AA22xA6”, is reportedly in talks to take on this superhero venture next.
The film will be helmed by Basil Joseph, best known for directing the Malayalam superhero film “Minnal Murali.”
Interestingly, Allu Arjun’s shift in focus appears to have cost him Trivikram’s mythological drama, which he was previously in discussions for.
