Janhvi Kapoor is one of the most popular actresses in Indian cinema today, but her stardom is not translating at the box office. Despite enjoying strong youth appeal and a massive Instagram following, she lacks pull at the ticket windows. Yet again, it has been proven that her charisma alone is not enough to draw audiences to theaters.
In 2025, she had three Hindi theatrical releases, and all of them underperformed.
“Param Sundari” was the first of the three films to hit the screens. Starring Sidharth Malhotra as the male lead, the film tanked at the box office. It collected around Rs 50 crore nett in India, which is better than her other recent films. Though not an outright flop, it still underperformed.
Janhvi Kapoor’s second release, Homebound, which has been selected as India’s official Oscar entry this year, is a niche film made for a selective audience. As expected, it failed to put up even respectable numbers when it released in theaters last month.
Last weekend saw the release of her third film, “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.” The film starred Varun Dhawan, who himself lacks strong box-office pull despite being a popular Bollywood hero. With “Kantara Chapter 1” dominating the box office, “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari” stood no chance and managed to collect only Rs 30 crore nett in its first weekend.

Overall, all three of Janhvi Kapoor’s Hindi releases in 2025 have failed to deliver box-office success. She will now have to pin her hopes on “Peddi,” slated for release next year.
