Janhvi Kapoor’s Telugu-Bollywood dilemma after ‘Peddi’

Janhvi Kapoor appears to be at an important juncture in her career. Ever since the release of “Peddi,” she has not officially signed any major new project in either Telugu cinema or Bollywood.

The actress had pinned high hopes on “Peddi,” expecting it to elevate her to a stronger pan-India position. While the film performed well commercially, her role and screen presence drew criticism from a section of the audience, leading to online trolling. Soon after the release, Janhvi noticeably stopped promoting or speaking about the film, fueling speculation about her disappointment with the overall experience.

Industry circles are now speculating that she may become more selective about Telugu projects, paying greater attention to the importance of her role and the way her character is written. There is also another view that she could reduce her presence in Telugu cinema if she does not receive substantial, performance-oriented roles.

Rumors continue to link her with Allu Arjun’s upcoming film “Raaka” as one of the female leads. However, there has been no official confirmation from the makers or the actress.

At the same time, Janhvi is still trying to cement her position among Bollywood’s top league of actresses. While she has worked in several high-profile productions, she is yet to consistently headline big commercial successes or become the first choice opposite many of the industry’s biggest male stars like Ranveer Singh.
