When Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam first worked together in the 1980s, they created a classic titled “Nayakan,” which was voted one of Time Magazine’s All-Time 100 Greatest Films. Three decades later, they are reuniting for Kamal Haasan’s 234th film (KH23).
Mani Ratnam, the filmmaker, produced a video announcing the film’s title a day before Kamal Haasan’s birthday. ‘Thug Life’ is the title.
This is a unique title for a Mani Ratnam film. Mani Ratnam has always selected classic titles or catchy Indian names. The term “Thug Life” is a popular one on the internet.
The video also discloses Kamal Haasan’s character’s name and the getup he would sport in the flick. A lengthy action sequence is also included.
The film also features Jayam Ravi, Dulquer Salmaan and Trisha in the main lead roles. AR Rahman will score the music.
