‘Leo’ misses the chance to score $1M premiere number

The premiere number of “Leo,” starring Thalapathy Vijay, was poised to set a new record for the hero in the United States. The film’s advance ticket sales for premiere screenings exceeded 900k dollars. The film appeared to cross the $1 million mark based solely on premiere screenings, a first in Vijay’s career.

However, the producers have abruptly abandoned plans to release the film in IMAX theaters and at early premieres in the United States. As Tamilnadu government didn’t allow early morning shows for the film in the state, the producers didn’t want to hold early premiere shows in the United States as well. So, the shows were canceled, affecting ticket sales.

It has now been reduced to $700k. A fantastic opportunity to gross $1 million from the premiere shows was wasted.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s film “Leo” has Vijay, Trisha, and Sanjay Dutt has the main cast and the film is based on the Hollywood actioner “A History of Violence.”
