Telangana government today nominated lyricist and poet Goreti Venkanna to Legislative Council under the Governor’s quota. The three vacant positions in the Council are being filled.
Venkanna has been nominated for one seat as MLC.
He was rewarded for his contribution to the state in the domain of arts. He also had participated in the fight for Telangana state. He is a popular poet.
He has written songs in films like ‘Encounter’, ‘Sri Ramulayya’, ‘Jai Bolo Telangana’ ‘Mallesham’ and ‘Dorasaani’.
