Mixed reviews for Pooja Hegde’s ‘Deva’

Pooja Hegde in Deva

Pooja Hegde returned to movies after a long hiatus. After scoring flops in Telugu, including “Radhe Shyam” and “Acharya,” Pooja Hegde lost her popularity in Tollywood, and opportunities dried up. It took nearly two years to return to the screen.

Her first picture in two years, “Deva,” in which she stars as a journalist, hit theaters today. She aggressively promoted the picture, aiming to obtain a boost for her debut release in 2025.

However, “Deva” received a lackluster response from regular moviegoers, with poor first-day collections. Luckily, critics did not give negative reviews. The common consensus is that it’s a mixed bag. The film includes an intriguing twist involving the male hero, played by Shahid Kapoor.

It’s a remake of the 2013 Malayalam film “Mumbai Police.” In Telugu, it was remade as ‘Hunt’ with Sudheer Babu. Chitra Shukla played the female lead in Telugu, while Pooja Hegde played the same role in Hindi.

Pooja Hegde has many other films lined up for release this year including Suriya’s “Retro” and Thalapathy Vijay’s “Jana Nayagan.”
