Rajamouli’s “RRR” is all set to create history for a Telugu film, as the film is on the verge of bagging Oscar nominations. It has already crossed the first hurdle. The song from “RRR,” “Naatu Naatu,” has already made it onto the Oscar shortlists.
Before announcing nominations, the Academy announced shortlists in 10 categories. In the category of original song, MM Keeravani’s “Naatu Naatu” composition was selected. A total of 10 songs were shortlisted. From these 10 shortlists, five will be nominated next month. And the final winner will be known on March 12, 2023.
No Telugu song until now has made it to the Oscar shortlist. Thus, ‘RRR’ created a history.
Apart from “RRR,” Gujarati film “Chhello Show” also made it to the shortlists in the category of “Best International Feature Film.”
We wish and hope that both of these films are nominated further.
Whether “RRR” will make it to nominations in other categories like “directing,” “best film,” “cinematography,” etc., will be known on January 24.
