Nandamuri Balakrishna’s upcoming film, tentatively titled NBK111, is undergoing significant changes, including a complete overhaul of its storyline. Director Gopichand Malineni had initially planned the project as a lavish period drama centered on royal warriors, with Balakrishna playing dual roles, one of them being a king.
However, the makers have now decided to rework the story. The primary reason behind this shift is the film’s budget. The earlier concept demanded a massive financial outlay, and following the underperformance of “Akhanda 2,” the team reassessed the practical limitations of theatrical returns and OTT revenue.
Industry calculations suggest that for stars without a strong Hindi market, it is no longer viable to mount films with budgets exceeding Rs 150 crore. Keeping this in mind, Gopichand Malineni has rewritten the script with a more realistic scale.
Interestingly, while the story and backdrop have changed, the heroine remains the same. The actress, who was initially signed to play a warrior queen, will continue as the main female lead opposite Balakrishna, despite the revamped narrative.
Balakrishna and Nayanthara have previously shared screen space in successful films such as Simha, Jai Simha, and Srirama Rajyam, making this pairing one that fans are already familiar with.
