Thalapathy Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan (titled Jana Nayakudu in Telugu), is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 9, 2026. However, with just a few days left for release, the film is yet to receive its censor certificate, creating uncertainty around its release plans.
According to reports, the film has run into trouble due to certain political dialogues and sequences. As a result, the makers have decided to explore legal options and have already approached the court. A crucial hearing regarding the censor clearance is scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Madras High Court.
Jana Nayakudu marks the final film of Thalapathy Vijay, who recently announced his political entry by launching his own party, TVK. The party is set to contest the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, expected to be held in the coming months, adding further sensitivity to the film’s content.
The film is said to be inspired by the Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari. Given that this is Vijay’s last cinematic outing before fully stepping into politics, director H Vinoth reportedly incorporated sharp political satire targeting both the DMK and BJP, which is believed to be the primary reason behind the censor hurdles.
