It’s official now. The much-awaited Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’ will not release on 7th Jan 2022. The makers, in their announcement, said that as many Indian states are announcing restrictions and shutting down cinemas they have changed their release plans.
“Inspite of our relentless efforts, some situations are beyond our control. As many Indian states are closing many theaters, we are left with no choice but to ask you to hold on to your excitement. We promised to bring back the glory of Indian cinema and at the right time, we will,” the statement read.
Starring NTR and Ram Charan, ‘RRR’ was originally slated to hit the theaters on July 30, 2020. It was later pushed to Jan 8, 2021, owing to the first wave of COVID-19. The film was again rescheduled to October 13, 2021. But the makers thought Sankranthi 2022 would make better business sense. After promoting aggressively for the last couple of months to release on Jan 7, 2022, the producer postponed the film indefinitely.
Director Rajamouli and producer Danayya will announce a new date after careful consideration. ‘RRR’ has MM Keeravani’s music.
