Pawan Kalyan’s “OG,” a gangster drama, set a new record in his career by grossing over $4 million in its opening weekend in North America. However, it missed the $5 million milestone by a whisker. It could have been a major achievement had it crossed that mark during the weekend itself, but the collections dipped on Saturday and Sunday, limiting its overall tally.
“OG” collected a whopping $3.67 million on the first day (including premieres). It then added around half a million dollars each on the second and third days. But since it didn’t see a significant jump on Saturday and Sunday, the film couldn’t go past the $5 million mark.
On Sunday alone, “OG” grossed over $200K, taking the total to approximately $4.93 million.
Still, it stands as one of the biggest Telugu hits overseas and the highest-grossing film of Pawan Kalyan’s career in North America.
“OG” also became the first major recent Telugu release to enter profits in its very first weekend. While Pawan Kalyan’s recent films like “Bro” and “Hari Hara Veera Mallu” tanked completely, “OG” not only landed in profits immediately but also joined the list of all-time top-grossing Telugu films in North America.
Directed by Sujeeth and produced by DVV Danayya, “OG” stars Priyanka Mohan as the female lead. She recently expressed gratitude to audiences for the love shown to her and the film. The also grossed over Rs 200 crore worldwide on its opening day.
