The summer of 2025 is turning out to be a dull season. Generally, the summer holiday period witnesses at least half a dozen movies featuring top stars and mid-range stars, besides another dozen or so small-budgeted movies. But this season is different.
The summer began with the release of Nithiin’s “Robinhood,” which turned out to be a dud. The month of April saw only two mid-range movies from Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Kalyan Ram, both of which tanked at the box office.
HIT and Kingdom
The month of May will also see only two notable movies starring mid-range stars: Nani and Vijay Deverakonda. The month kicks off with Nani’s “HIT 3,” which is carrying huge hype and is likely to open big. May will end with the release of Vijay Deverakonda’s “Kingdom,” which, although lacking strong buzz right now, still benefits from Vijay’s craze among the youth.
In between these two films, no other big Telugu movie is hitting theaters. Only small-budgeted films like Sree Vishnu’s “Single” and Samantha’s production “Subham” will be vying for audience attention.
Films like Ravi Teja’s “Mass Jathara” and Chiranjeevi’s “Vishambhara,” which were initially slated for May releases, have been postponed.
Zero films with top stars?

Unless Pawan Kalyan’s “Hari Hara Veera Mallu” somehow manages to arrive in theaters before the summer holiday period ends on June 10, the entire season will pass without a single film featuring a top star. As of now, there’s no clarity on when Pawan Kalyan’s movie will release, as it has been postponed again from its planned May 9th date.
