This year’s Academy Awards have set a new trend. Multiple films have shared honors this year rather than one film grabbing the most. ‘Nomadland’ won the best film award, and the film’s leading actress Frances McDormand and the director Chloé Zhao also walked away with best actress and best director honors respectively.
Chinese-born Chloe Zhao is the second woman ever to win the best director award at the Oscars.
Anthony Hopkins was named as the best actor for ‘The Father’. 83-year-old Hopkins became the oldest winner ever.
Korean actress Yuh-Jung Youn won best-supporting actress for ‘Minari’, while Daniel Kaluuya won the Oscar for best-supporting actor for ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’.
The Oscars also paid tribute to our Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan and costume designer Bhanu Athiya, who passed away recently.
