Rajinikanth’s “Coolie” is performing exceptionally well at the box office and is on track to become the highest-grossing Tamil film in the USA. However, despite its commercial success, the film has been widely regarded as one of the weaker outings from director Lokesh Kanagaraj, next only to “Leo.”
Ahead of release, Pooja Hegde’s item number “Monica” generated huge buzz and was expected to be a show-stealer. But on screen, the song fell flat due to its placement and lack of impact.
Post-release, the actress has been facing severe trolling, with many even suggesting that her presence in Tamil cinema brings more harm than good to projects.
Although she received a hefty paycheck for the special song, the backlash has cast doubt on whether she will be offered more item numbers in Tamil films.
Pooja Hegde earlier appeared in two Telugu item songs — one in Rangasthalam and another in F3.
