Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Boyapati Sreenu are widely regarded as one of Telugu cinema’s most successful actor-director duos. The pair is currently collaborating on “Akhanda 2,” the much-anticipated sequel to the blockbuster “Akhanda.” While filming is underway, the makers had boldly announced a release date of September 25, 2025, even before production officially began.
However, reports—including by Telugucinema.com—suggested that the team was reconsidering this date and exploring a possible December release instead. But now, it appears both Prabhas and Pawan Kalyan have effectively blocked Balakrishna’s options.
Pawan Kalyan’s action drama “OG” recently locked in September 25, 2025 as its release date, effectively pushing “Akhanda 2” out of its initially announced slot. To add to the challenge, Prabhas’s “The Raja Saab” is set to hit theaters on December 5, 2025, ruling out that window as well.
With both major dates now occupied, the makers of “Akhanda 2” are left with two viable options: releasing during the Christmas holiday season or aiming for a Sankranthi 2026 debut. Given the festive appeal and box-office potential, it’s likely that Balakrishna and team will target Sankranthi 2026 for the release.
