Sekhar Kammula’s much-anticipated pan-Indian film “Kuberaa,” starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Rashmika Mandanna, is gearing up for a grand release on June 20, 2025. Produced by Suniel Narang and Ram Mohan Rao, the film is being made as a straight Tamil-Telugu bilingual, with a dubbed Hindi version.
The producers revealed that “Kubera”a centers on a powerful conflict: a dramatic duel between the richest man in the world and a man living in extreme poverty on the streets. “Sekhar Kammula garu narrated the story right after the release of ‘Love Story.’ Dhanush was immediately hooked. He agreed to do the film within 20 minutes of hearing the story,” they said.
Describing the film as a deeply character-driven narrative, the producers noted, “Sekhar Kammula sees stars as characters. Even in Kuberaa, it’s the characters that take center stage. It’s a very different movie and promises a fresh experience for audiences.”
Shot extensively in the slums, garbage dumps, and narrow alleys of Mumbai, the team emphasized the challenges of filming in such real and gritty locations. Despite the tough conditions, they didn’t cut corners on production quality.

“We spared no expense in making this a high-quality film. It will have a massive release across 1,600 screens. We’re confident the opening day collections will be terrific,” they concluded.
