Pushpa 2 stampede case: Allu Arjun named in chargesheet

A year after the tragic stampede at Sandhya Theatre during the midnight premiere of “Pushpa 2,” actor Allu Arjun has been named in the chargesheet filed by the Hyderabad police. The incident, which occurred exactly a year ago, led to Allu Arjun’s arrest and brief incarceration before he was granted bail by the court. However, delays by the Telangana government resulted in him spending a few additional hours in jail.

In the aftermath of the incident, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy later struck a conciliatory tone, publicly praising Allu Arjun and rebuilding ties with key figures from the Telugu film industry. Meanwhile, Allu Arjun’s team took responsibility for covering the medical expenses of Sai Tej, who sustained severe injuries in the stampede, while his mother tragically lost her life.

Now, following a year-long investigation, the Hyderabad police have filed a chargesheet naming Allu Arjun and members of his security team among 23 accused. The actor has been listed as Accused No. 11 (A-11) in the case. A-11 means not directly responsible for the incident.

According to the police, the primary responsibility lies with the theatre management and the organisers of the premiere show, who allegedly failed to make adequate safety arrangements. They have already been booked under charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Police officials have reiterated that organisers are accountable for ensuring public safety during such events.
