Netflix India’s anthologies are hardly getting any traction. The recent anthology drama ‘Navarasa’ was also panned by critics. Yet, it seems Netflix is more banking on stars and big names than the content.
The latest buzz in the Film Nagar is that Rana Daggubati has pitched a web series idea to Netflix and got a nod from the streaming giant. Rana is planning to produce a web series with him and his uncle Venkatesh playing the lead roles.
Venkatesh’s recent movie ‘Narappa’ also premiered directly on an OTT platform (Amazon), and another upcoming ‘Drushyam 2’ will not make it to the theaters. The thriller will stream on Disney+Hotstar directly. With big money coming from these streaming companies, Rana sees potential in producing content for OTT platforms. Thus, he proposed a multi-starrer web series for Netflix.
We have to wait for the official confirmation.
