Born and brought up in Hyderabad, Ritu Varma has little knowledge about the rural side. The ‘Pelli Choopulu’ actress said it was a challenge for her to portray this character.

“Gummadi Varalakshmi looks like a conservative but is authoritative, and stands for what she believes. Though I am a city-bred girl, I am a director’s actor. I can turn into the role with inputs from the director. Shiva Nirvana has helped me playing Gummadi Varalakshmi. He is a director with a strong grip on script and emotions,” she revealed.

She also praised her co-star Nani.

She had already acted with him in ‘Yevade Subrahmanyam’. But she was new to the industry then. And it was a minor role. “Nani is a terrific co-star. He is a helpful person, is humble, and grounded. I have learned a lot from him,” she says about Nani.

Ritu Varma also has ‘Varudu Kavalenu’ due for release. She shot to fame with ‘Pelli Choopulu’.
