‘Shaakuntalam’ starring Samantha in the titular character completed its shooting part long back. Director Gunasekhar is now working on the post-production and VFX formalities.
Since Gunasekhar faced criticism for low-quality graphics in ‘Rudhramadevi’, he doesn’t want to compromise this time. He will not announce the release date until he gets satisfied with the output. This time, he has Dil Raju as his co-producer, who is lending full support. So, he doesn’t worry about finances.
‘Shaakuntalam’ is being projected as a pan-Indian project. If everything goes well, the film may hit the theaters in December this year. If not, it will aim for a summer 2023 release.
‘Shaakuntalam’ is a retelling of the love story of Shakuntala (played by Samantha) and Dusyanta.
