Producer Dil Raju recently announced that he would hold preview and premiere shows for every new film, as Hollywood does. He planned to hold a premiere show for ‘Shaakuntalam’ for media and film celebrities today, two days before the film’s theatrical release.
But he changed his mind after well-wishers warned him. Even if the film is excellent, some people will always be critical. So, it is best to avoid the concept of early previews for big-budgeted movies. This is what his friends told him. As a result, the film’s premiere screenings were canceled.
‘Shaakuntalam,’ starring Samantha, is a mythological fantasy drama. The 3D film, directed by Gunasekhar, will be released in theaters worldwide on April 14.
Early previews for ‘Balagam,’ which became a huge hit, worked. But the stakes for ‘Shaakuntalam’ are high.
