Shashtipoorthi ticks all the right boxes. A middle-aged couple trying to patch-up after years of estrangement. A young son becoming the enabler of the reunion. A premise that reminds us of Sharwanand-Prakash Raj-Jayasudha’s Shatamanam Bhavathi.
Written and directed by Pavan Prabha, the film stars Nata Kireeti Rajendra Prasad and his ‘Ladies Tailor’ pairing Archana. The duo return to play a couple a good nearly four decades after their 1986 movie.
As a highlight to this family entertainer, music is scored by the genius Ilaiyaraaja.
Anchoring the family story is Rupeysh Choudhary, who plays the hero and has also bankrolled the film. The prominence of retaining the stability of the family system, the relevance of healthy upbringing, and the references to the Rama-Sita tale are impressive.
With a song written by MM Keeravani and sung by SP Charan, the film also has lyrics by Chaitanya Prasad. Akanksha Singh is the heroine. The cast also includes Chakrapani Ananda, Achyut Kumar, Prabhas Sreenu, Chalaki Chanti, Muralidhar Goud, and Jabardasth Ram.
