With a worldwide total of more than Rs 1000 crore, Rajamouli’s “RRR” is the biggest blockbuster of 2022. The Kannada film ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ aka ‘KGF 2’ made the second-highest box office take, after Rajamouli’s epic drama. Still, “KGF 2” ranked first in terms of attendance.
In India, ‘KGF 2’ beat out ‘RRR’ in terms of footfalls and ticket sales in 2022. BookMyShow is a ticket booking app, and in 2022, the film “KGF 2” was the most popular movie ticket purchase.
According to the app’s annual report, other films besides “KGF 2,” including “RRR,” “Kantara,” “Ponniyan Selvan,” and “Hollywood biggies,” sold more tickets.
It seems that Rajamouli’s film did better in foreign markets than ‘KGF 2’ did. So while ‘RRR’ may have been the biggest hit of 2022, ‘KGF 2’ actually dominated the box office and audience numbers in India.
Kannada superstar Yash headlined Prashanth Neel’s “KGF 2.” In both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the film made over Rs 70 crore at the box office.
