The Telangana government has already hiked the ticket prices to Rs 295 (maximum cap) in multiplexes recently. In addition to this exorbitant admission fee, the government has now issued a new G.O enhancing the ticket rates for Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’, which hits the theaters on 25th March.
The government has allowed these enhanced rates on the pretext of ‘high budget film’. ‘RRR’ is said to be made with Rs 336 crore (+ remunerations). The film stars NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles. Directed by Rajamouli, it is DVV Danayya’s production.
As per the new government order, the state government has permitted the theaters and multiplexes to charge Rs 50 to Rs 100 additionally on the current admission fee for the ‘RRR’ movie.
The GO says
Rs 50 hike additional amount on all theaters – from 25/03/2022 to 27/03/2022
Rs 30 – from 28/03/2022 to 03/04/2022
For recliner seats
Rs 100 additional from 25/03/2022 to 27/03/2022
Rs 50 – from 28/03/2022 to 03/04/2022
No change in non-AC theaters
5 shows in the state for all single screens for 10 days (25/03/2022 to 03/04/2022)
This is the first time that the state government issued such a GO for hiking ticket rates exorbitant. The government will face criticism for relenting to the whims of the greedy filmmakers and distributors.
