North America: ‘Thandel’ surpasses half a million dollars

“Thandel” is having a smashing run at the North American box office. The film grossed close to $600k, in two days, handily surpassing the half-million-dollar milestone. This is Naga Chaitanya’s strongest opener as a solo hero.

“Thandel” grossed $419,000 on its first day, including premiere shows. On day two, the film is predicted to gross roughly $200k. In its debut weekend, “Thandel” has the potential to post a huge amount.

Chandoo Mondeti directed the film, which starred Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi. It told the experience of Andhra fishermen who ended up in a Pakistani jail after crossing the international maritime border. “Thandel” received mixed reviews, but word-of-mouth was positive.

Devi Sri Prasad’s music, the performances of the lead actors, and the fairly engaging first half have received more appreciation.
