The makers of “The Raja Saab” have unveiled new trailer with the name “The RajaSaab Trailer 2.0”, offering a clearer picture of the film’s storyline while firmly establishing its genre. Running for more than three minutes, the trailer lays out the core conflict and sets the tone for what is positioned as a horror fantasy entertainer.
Prabhas plays a character referred to as The Raja Saab, who enters a grand palace haunted or possessed by a mysterious spirit named Kanakaraju, portrayed by Sanjay Dutt. Veteran actress Zarina Wahab essays the role of Gangamma, Raja Saab’s grandmother. The narrative hints at a deep connection between Gangamma and Kanakaraju, forming the emotional and dramatic backbone of the story.
Who exactly is Kanakaraju? What is Gangamma’s past? And how does Raja Saab get drawn into this dangerous web? These questions form the crux of the film’s plot.
Visually, the trailer presents a mixed bag. While the VFX impress in several sequences, a few moments fall short of expectations. That said, the effort to mount the film on a rich and grand scale is evident throughout. Music director Thaman elevates the trailer with a gripping background score, adding intensity to the horror elements.
Directed by Maruthi, “The Raja Saab” marks a notable departure, as the filmmaker attempts a genre-driven horror fantasy with a star of Prabhas’ stature, at a time when most top actors are opting for mass action spectacles or mythological dramas.
The trailer also introduces the three female leads—Malavika Mohanan, Niddhhi Agerwal, and Riddhi Kumar—in glamorous avatars, though the primary focus remains on establishing the film’s horror-driven narrative.
“The Raja Saab” is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 9, 2026.
