TN Polls 2026: Vijay, Rajinikanth, Ajith lead early voting rush

Polling for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election 2026 began this morning across the state. The highlight of this election is a major superstar and his newly launched party challenging both the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam alliance and the opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led NDA.

Vijay and his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, are contesting the elections and testing their political strength.

From early morning, several leading stars of the Tamil film industry stepped out to cast their votes.

Ajith Kumar was among the first to vote, arriving at a polling booth even before 7 AM, right as voting began. Superstar Rajinikanth also exercised his franchise.

Vijay, who is contesting from two constituencies, cast his vote at a polling booth near his residence in Chennai.

Other prominent names who exercised their democratic rights in the early hours include Kamal Haasan, Shruti Haasan, Sivakarthikeyan, Trisha Krishnan, Vikram, Dhanush, filmmaker Mani Ratnam, Suhasini Maniratnam, music composer Anirudh Ravichander, and actress Khushbu Sundar.
