Tamil actor R. Parthiban has landed in controversy after making a remark about Trisha Krishnan at a recent awards event in Chennai. Trisha did not remain silent and quickly responded on social media, strongly criticizing his comment. Soon after the backlash, Parthiban issued a clarification saying he regrets the remark.
During an awards ceremony in Chennai, Parthiban was asked to speak about actors he had worked with earlier. When Trisha’s photo appeared on the screen, he remarked that “it is better to ask this Kundavai to sit at home for a while.”
“Kundavai” is the character played by Trisha in “Ponniyin Selvan,” directed by Mani Ratnam. Parthiban also acted in the film. However, many in the audience and on social media interpreted his remark as an indirect reference to the ongoing speculation about Trisha’s alleged relationship with Vijay.
The comment gained traction because Vijay and Trisha were recently spotted attending a wedding event together, at a time when Vijay’s divorce case with his wife Sangeeta Sornalingam is reportedly underway.
Reacting strongly, Trisha took to social media and slammed Parthiban for the comment. Facing criticism, Parthiban later posted a message saying, “It has gone all wrong. Nothing but I regret over this.”
On the work front, Parthiban will also be seen in Ustaad Bhagat Singh, starring Pawan Kalyan, which is scheduled to hit theatres on March 19, 2026.
