US: ‘Devara’ aims for massive first weekend gross

The hype around “Devara” is real. The film has generated massive buzz in the past two months, as evidenced by the pre-sales in North America. The film’s early sales from the premiere show are approaching 6 lakh tickets.

That means the film will comfortably earn $2 million plus the opening number on its debut day (premiere shows).

As a solo star, NTR never had such a massive opening in the United States. His films, such as “Nannaku Prematho” and “Aravinda Sametha,” have lifetime grosses of $2 million plus. However, “Devara” will have a $2 million premiere show gross as the current trend suggests. If the film receives unanimous positive reviews, it is expected to generate a weekend gross of at least $5 million. That is also the goal for NTR.

“Devara” might not achieve a huge collection like “RRR” did, but the team is hoping to set a $4 to $5 million gross in its first weekend.

Directed by Koratala Siva, “Devara: Part 1” is set to premiere on September 26 in the USA. The film has Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead.
