US: ‘Kingdom’ posts massive $930K from premiere shows

Vijay Deverakonda has faced a string of flops in recent years and has been looking for a strong comeback. In that context, even a half-million-dollar opening for “Kingdom” would have been considered a huge achievement. But the film has exceeded all expectations and delivered a stunning result.

“Kingdom” grossed a massive $933K (approximately Rs 8.2 crore) from premiere shows in North America, setting a new career-best for Vijay Deverakonda. His previous highest was “Liger,” which opened with around $500K. “Kingdom” has outperformed that by nearly 40%.

For comparison, Nani scored a big win with “HIT 3” earlier this year, which grossed $875K from premiere shows in the USA. Now, “Kingdom” has surpassed that by nearly $50K.

While these premiere numbers are impressive, it remains to be seen whether the film can maintain its momentum through the weekend.

Still, when it comes to opening collections, Vijay Deverakonda has once again proven that he can pull strong numbers when the right film comes his way.
