Vijayashanthi, a veteran actress and politician, who made her comeback after a five-year hiatus, said her role was well appreciated in the recently released “Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi.” She played the mother of Nandamuri Kalyan Ram in the film.
“I’m happy with the response I received for this film. I played a role with a lot of action, and people really wanted to see me in such a powerful character. Director Pradeep came up with exactly the kind of role I was looking for. My fans weren’t entirely satisfied with my previous film, but this one has truly met their expectations,” she said.
Though she recently took oath as an MLC in the Telangana Legislative Assembly, there is talk that Vijayashanthi might sign more films.
One of the rumors doing the rounds is that she will be playing a key role in Nandamuri Balakrishna’s “Akhanda 2.” Buzz is that director Boyapati Srinu has designed a special role for her and is planning to bring back the hit combo of Balakrishna and Vijayashanthi.
When asked about her role in “Akhanda 2,” Vijayashanthi laughed off the reports. “I am not aware that I am doing Akhanda 2. Until you (journalists) mentioned it, I didn’t know about this news at all,” she said.
Nandamuri Balakrishna and Vijayashanthi delivered several hits together in the 1980s and 1990s. They are considered one of the most successful onscreen pairs in Telugu cinema. The duo was last seen together in Nippu Ravva in 1993.
