Gam Gam Ganesha Review: Cliched crime caper

Gam Gam Ganesha

What’s about?

In order to demonstrate to his ex-girlfriend that he is capable of becoming rich, Ganesh (Anand Deverakonda) accepts a job offered to him by the jewellery store owner’s son. The task involves the theft of diamonds worth Rs 7 crore from their store. Ganesh inadvertently fires a shot at the owner subsequent to pilfering the diamond. He and his friend, Emmanuel, flee the city to avoid being caught by the police.

At a police checkpoint, Ganesh boards a moving lorry that is transporting a Lord Ganesh idol to a village. Kishore Reddy, a politician from Kurnool, is transporting the Ganesh idol from Mumbai. An amount of Rs 100 crore is kept inside the clay idol.

When the idol is installed at Rajavari Palle, will Ganesh be able to remove the diamond from the idol?

Analysis

“Gam Gam Ganesha” is a crime caper. This is a crime comedy template where the main character commits theft and the stolen item becomes lost. As a result, the main character encounters other criminals and a series of comedic mistakes ensue. Several movies were made in this manner. Here, Ganesha idol plays the central figure.

The fundamental storyline lacks substantial content, and the entirety of the first half of the film is disorganized and chaotic. Fortunately, the inclusion of comedic elements in the narrative, particularly in the scenes set in a village called Rajavari Palle near Nandyala, work. The humorous exchange between Anand Deverakonda and Emmanuel, along with Vennela Kishore’s portrayal of Organ David, elicit laughter.

The remaining portion of the drama, characterized by a multitude of eccentric characters and numerous subplots intertwining with the main storyline, unnecessarily prolongs this film.

The basic plot has the potential for some good laughs, but new director Uday Shetty has failed to turn it into a comedy entertainer.

Anand Deverakonda has given a decent performance. His comedic timing is good. Emmanuel and Vennela Kishore’s comedic performances salvage the film. The production and technical values are satisfactory.

Bottom line: “Gam Gam Ganesha” has one or two comic episodes, but this crime caper is both clichéd and ineffective.
