Analysis

‘Orey Bujjiga’ is a tale of a comedy of errors. The story is very familiar, the situations are regular, the entertainment sequences are cliched. Still, director Konda Vijay Kumar manages to provide time-pass moments in the first act. But 40 minutes into the film, we realize that that the story goes nowhere. The director, who is also the writer of the story and screenplay of this film, has ‘stuff’ enough to keep us entertained for 2 hours 20 minutes.

Even before the film nears interval, the interest wears off. The rest of the proceedings are dreary. Hebah Patel’s characterization is enough to say that the writing is lousy (she plays a gloried extra in the film). It seems that just to use the dialogue – ‘Sujana Tinnavara’ from a viral sex video, her character is named Sujana. The film is filled with such trite situations and dialogues, with no proper conflict.

Krishnaveni (Malavika) runs away from the village to avoid marriage with her ‘bava’ but again agrees to marry him in the second half, due to miscommunication with Bujji (Raj Tarun) and then again knows the ‘true face’ of her bava and comes back to Bujji. Vammo! Such convenient twists! There is a hospital scene in the second half involving Saptagiri that reeks of idiocy.

Coming to the performances, both Raj Tarun and Malavika Nair have done justice to their roles but it is Malavika who should be appreciated. She is quite natural. There is nothing much to say about other actors.

The music by Anup Rubens is decent. Director Vijay Kumar Konda’s writing and direction lack contemporary feel.

Bottom-line: Filled with clichéd sequences and lousy writing, ‘Orey Bujjiga’ ends as a bore. The second half that drags on and on tests the patience.
