In 1989 in the Tamilnadu assembly, some DMK MLAs pulled out loose end of Jayalalitha’s saree. She was also physically assaulted. The writers of ‘Thalaivi’ have compared this incident to Draupadi’s character in Mahabharat. Kangana utters, “Aa Mahabharataniki Inko Peru Undi. Jaya (The Mahabharat has another name: Jaya).”
