Actor Rahul Ramakrishna, known for his roles in blockbusters Arjun Reddy, Jathi Ratnalu, and RRR, recently stirred controversy with a series of tweets criticizing the current Congress-led Telangana government. He claimed that Hyderabad and the state had “landed in a mess” due to misrule and tagged former Chief Minister KCR, expressing hope that he would return to power to set things right.

His comments reportedly embarrassed the Revanth Reddy government. According to reports, Congress leaders and government representatives made calls pressuring him to take down the posts. Rahul eventually deleted the tweets and deactivated his account for two days.

He returned to Twitter today and posted that he is “just a small actor” and that his anger was “misplaced.”

His statement suggests he may have been under considerable pressure. He also announced that he would step away from social media activism for now, saying he would only reengage when he has the time and capacity to “fully immerse in the system.”

Rahul Ramakrishna is the true son of soil of Telangana and often spoken in support of state’s issues. However, he appears to have stepped back after facing political pressure from the current government.

Here’s what he posted:

“Greater minds than mine have long grappled with social problems. What do I know about governance and administration? I’m just a small actor.

After several long phone calls with seasoned leaders from the entire political spectrum, I have come to realise that my angst and my frustration is misplaced. I only wish the best for our land and it’s people, regardless of who runs the system and how. It is my duty to participate with the system and not limit myself to mere critiques.

And until such time in the future comes where I can fully immerse myself and what little skills I have in solving the problems that plague us all, I will recuse myself from this Twitter activism.

Expect only the best possible work on screen from me henceforth.

Jai Telangana, Jai Hind.”
