Speculation continues to surround SS Rajamouli’s ambitious project “Varanasi,” with growing buzz that the film could be split into two parts. Earlier, TeluguCinema.com had reported that the ace director was considering a two part format, similar to his landmark Baahubali franchise. However, Rajamouli and his team have so far remained tight lipped on the matter.

The rumours have gained fresh momentum after the makers recently announced the film’s release date. According to fan discussions and industry chatter, the April 7, 2027 release date could be meant for the first part, while the second installment may arrive sometime in 2029.

Some fans have even begun referring to the two rumored chapters as #GlobeTrotter and #TimeTrotter. Despite these theories doing the rounds, the makers have officially announced Varanasi only as a single project and have not confirmed any split so far.

Starring Mahesh Babu in the lead, with Priyanka Chopra, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Prakash Raj playing key roles, “Varanasi” is being shot specifically for IMAX screens and is mounted on a record budget. The film is clearly aimed at the global market, with Rajamouli already initiating promotions through Hollywood focused media outlets.

The film has Mahesh Babu as adventurer Rudhra as well as Lord Rama. Priyanka Chopra Jonas appears as navigator Mandakini, while Prithviraj Sukumaran plays villain Kumbha.

Currently, the shooting of “Varanasi” is progressing in Hyderabad.
