The Election Commission has announced the polling schedule for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Voting will take place in a single phase on April 23, while the results will be declared on May 4.

With the elections approaching, Tamil superstar Vijay will be actively campaigning for his newly launched political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). This will be the first election his party will contest since its formation.

Meanwhile, Vijay’s much-awaited film “Jana Nayagan” is still facing hurdles in obtaining clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film reportedly contains several political dialogues, which has delayed its certification process.

Due to the election code of conduct that remains in force until the completion of polling and counting, the film is unlikely to receive censor clearance before the election process concludes. As a result, the makers are expected to release the movie only after the results are announced on May 4.

“Jana Nayagan” features Vijay in the lead role, with Pooja Hegde playing his love interest and Mamitha Baiju in a key role. The film is directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions.

Originally scheduled for release on January 9, 2026, the film was postponed after it failed to secure certification from the CBFC due to its politically sensitive dialogues.
