Manchu Vishnu’s belief in “Kannappa” has paid off. The mythological drama, directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, opened to stunning collections, setting a new record in Vishnu’s career.
Kannappa, which features a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal, drew mixed reactions. The film got positive praise for its emotional climax and Prabhas’s episode, but criticism for the slow-paced first half. Still, the film drew massive crowds, which is a rare sight for a Manchu Vishnu film.

Many of Vishnu’s recent films didn’t even collect Rs 10 crore in their entire run. But “Kannappa” grossed over Rs 10 crore on day one alone, which is massive. This Rs 10 Cr opening has surprised everyone, including trade pundits — marking the highest opening in Vishnu Manchu’s career.
The special appearance by Prabhas is undoubtedly one of the biggest factors behind such a strong opening. On top of that, the film’s aggressive promotions worked well. Manchu Vishnu has been tirelessly promoting the film for months. He toured across India, visiting temples, and establishing “Kannappa” as a devotional spectacle.
Preity Mukundhan made her debut as the female lead in this film.
