“Dhurandhar: The Revenge” (Dhurandhar 2) has created history in Indian cinema with a sensational first weekend performance.
For the first time ever, an Indian film has grossed around $14 million in North America during its opening weekend. The film achieved this massive number within four days of its premiere on March 18, setting a new benchmark.
With standard ticket prices averaging around $12, the feat becomes even more remarkable. The film also secured the third position at the North American box office, just behind Hollywood releases “Project Mary” and “Hoppers.”
The Ranveer Singh starrer has already entered the list of all-time highest-grossing Indian films in North America. Trade estimates suggest it is well on track to emerge as the number one Indian film in the region, potentially surpassing “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” by the end of its run.
Globally, the film has delivered an equally staggering performance, collecting around Rs 700 crore within its first four days. This marks a first for a Bollywood film in its opening weekend. It is now rapidly heading towards the Rs 1000 crore milestone.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the sequel of “Dhurandhar” features Ranveer Singh alongside Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and Rakesh Bedi. Music is composed by Shashwat Sachdev.
