The box office storm of “Dhurandhar 2” continues to rewrite history in overseas markets, with the film now emerging as the all-time highest-grossing Indian movie in North America. Starring Ranveer Singh, the sequel has officially surpassed Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, setting a new benchmark.
“Baahubali 2,” directed by S. S. Rajamouli, had collected about $20.4 million in its original run and around $22 million including re-releases. Now, “Dhurandhar 2” has gone past that mark, grossing approximately $21.40 million by its second Saturday in North America. Remarkably, the film pulled in close to $2 million on its second Saturday alone.
For nearly nine years, “Baahubali 2” remained unbeaten in the region, with no Indian film crossing the $20 million milestone. That long-standing record has finally been broken by “Dhurandhar 2,” signaling a major shift in overseas box office trends.
The success story doesn’t end there. The first installment, “Dhurandhar,” had already crossed $20 million in North America. Together, the franchise has now amassed over $41 million, making it the first Indian film series to achieve such a massive combined total in the region.
In overseas markets (excluding Gulf countries), “Dhurandhar 2” has collected around $34.5 million so far. With a strong theatrical run expected to continue for a few more weeks, trade experts predict that the film could comfortably cross the $30 million milestone in North America alone, further extending its record-breaking spree.
