Akhil Akkineni’s “Lenin”, co-starring Bhagyashri Borse, has emerged as a commercial success in the Telugu states, grossing over Rs 50 crore in India. The makers recently celebrated the film’s success with a grand event.
However, the film has failed to replicate that performance in North America.
After 13 days in theaters, “Lenin” is yet to cross the $800k mark, making it virtually impossible to reach the coveted $1 million milestone. While the film has ended Akhil’s dry spell at the domestic box office, its overseas run has been underwhelming.
With this, Akhil continues to wait for a true North American blockbuster. Apart from “Hello,” his second film, none of his releases have crossed the $1 million mark in the region.
Although “Lenin” has given the actor a much-needed hit, it falls short of being the kind of blockbuster that could significantly strengthen his overseas market.
