The Raja Saab Day 1 collections: Rs 100 Cr WW gross

Prabhas-starrer horror comedy “The Raja Saab” opened to strong numbers at the box office despite receiving largely negative reviews. The film collected around Rs 45 crore net in India on its opening day, Friday, along with approximately Rs 9 crore from Thursday premiere shows, taking the India total close to Rs 55 crore net.

The day one worldwide gross is estimated at nearly Rs 100 crore. The overseas market made a solid contribution, with North America alone accounting for about Rs 14 crore gross.

The film had paid premiere shows on Thursday in Andhra Pradesh, which performed well. However, the situation in Telangana was less than ideal, as premiere shows were confirmed late in the night with minimal publicity. As a result, collections from Telangana premieres were limited.

On Friday, “The Raja Saab” posted an impressive net in India. The Telugu version dominated with Rs 47.4 crore net, while the Hindi version added Rs 6.15 crore net. Including the Thursday premiere shows, the total India net stands at approximately Rs 54 crore, with worldwide gross touching the Rs 100 crore mark.

Despite the big opening, “The Raja Saab” has largely faced negative reviews. While fans appreciated Prabhas’ comic timing and Thaman’s energetic soundtrack, critics pointed out issues with the VFX, narration, and screenplay, resulting in ratings in the range of 2 to 2.25. Directed by Maruthi, the film stars Prabhas in the titular role, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, and Nidhhi Agerwal.
